New Directions Alternative Education Center graduated a record number of students in June and August of 2009. In total, 220 students graduated as a result of their hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Graduates participated in the school’s first Senior Trip which was held at Bush Gardens. A great time was had by all. These successful students set the bar for the class of 2010.  For our students, high expectations come with high performance as 11 young men and women have already completed their graduation requirements!

Students at New Directions Alternative Education Center have earned 300 digital credits to close out the first academic school quarter. All teachers serve as virtual academic advisors to students. As a part of our Effective School-wide Discipline (ESD) initiative, each advisor has a virtual homeroom. The homeroom with the highest numbers of credits earned receives a lunch with their advisor and Principal at the Great American Steak Buffet and Restaurant in Manassas. Students are marching toward the goal of earning 1600 digital credits by the end of the year!
